PARKING ON PUBLIC ROADS WITHIN MARLA BAY
February 7, 2022
Marla Bay Residents,
The recent heavy snows have once again reminded us how important it is for all of us to obey Marla Bay’s posted No Street Parking restrictions. (Ref. County Code Title 10.12.030) Our streets are very narrow and any encroachment on the paved streets caused by parked vehicles can cause severe problems for the snowplows/blowers and emergency vehicles. If part of a vehicle is on the street it is considered parked on the street. Also, we do not have sidewalks so pedestrians must use the streets. Parked vehicles that encroach on the road create an additional hazard for pedestrians.
If you have a parking area in front of your house, keep it clear for your parking. If you park on the street because your area is not clear, your car can be ticketed by the Sheriff, and it may be towed off the street at your expense.
Each of us has a responsibility to keep our streets safe. The GID is not a code enforcement agency, so if you see a vehicle parked on the street causing a hazard to the community, you may report it to the Douglas County Sheriff Department. Let’s all work together to keep our streets safe.
To report illegally parked or abandoned vehicles on public right-of-way, notify the Sheriff's Office at 775-782-5126.
